Boone County, Illinois, sets example for safer practices with Cloudpermit

Boone County, Illinois, recently partnered with Cloudpermit, the world’s leading e-permitting software for local government building departments that enables on-site mobile inspections and permit issuance 50% faster than paper-based systems.  

The shift toward paperless and online building permit processes prepares Boone County for continued success and new efficiencies for its more than 50,000 residents. 

“Our community has been wanting to apply for permits online instead of traveling to the county office, and with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, now was an ideal time to digitalize,” shared Drew Bliss, Senior Building Inspector for Boone County, Illinois. “We’re looking forward to moving all processes online with Cloudpermit to encourage safer practices by reducing in-person contact and paper exchanges at the county office.” 

The county team, including Diane Zimmerman, Zoning Inspector, and Kevin Catlin, County Administrator, are excited to launch the cloud-based e-permitting software for public use early this year to improve and optimize customer experience.  

“We’re eager to introduce electronic payment integration to our building community and applicants by adopting Cloudpermit,” explained Catlin. “By giving our residents the opportunity to pay for permits on-site or online, we’re greatly improving their building permit experience and communicating that we’re listening to their needs.” 

Illinois has found a new digital leader in Boone County to guide the northern state toward more efficient and safer building permit processes during the ongoing pandemic.
