The City of Terrace, a city in northwest British Columbia with a population of 12,299 residents, recently partnered with Cloudpermit, an e-permitting software for local government building departments.
As a province, B.C. is moving toward paperless and digital processes, and the City of Terrace is leading the way in the northwest region.
“We’ve been relying on our IT department for the past couple years to help us move our processes online since no software has met our needs over our 10-year search until now,” shared David Block, Director of Development Services for the City of Terrace. “Accepting building permit applications and conducting inspection services electronically will enhance efficiencies and offer better service.”
This partnership will benefit Terrace with an easy way for applicants and building communities to track permit status, communicate, and schedule inspections online.
It also helps establish the city as one with big community goals.
“As a central local government in our region, we’re also excited about the potential to offer our support to smaller, surrounding municipalities through Cloudpermit,” added Block.
“Cloudpermit was above and beyond what we were looking for—it is the golden standard,” explained Nathan Brooks, Building Official for the City of Terrace. “Logistics to help governments across long distances are complicated, and with this cloud-based software, physical distance is irrelevant. We’re excited that Cloudpermit enables local governments to work together by sharing talents, processes, and advice, and its online portal also helps more easily involve energy code compliance consultants in the permitting process.”
The City of Terrace is looking forward to how the e-permitting software can make a positive difference for its community in the northwest region.
“We’re thrilled for more local governments in B.C. to learn about Cloudpermit and how it can help communities support each other,” said Paul Hollas, Sales Manager, Western Canada. “The City of Terrace will set a wonderful example for the rest of the province in its move toward digitalization.”
Cloudpermit is the world’s leading e-permitting software for local government building departments. It is cloud-based and end-to-end which enables building departments, building communities, and applicants to complete the building permit lifecycle in one digital workspace. The software was created for, and with, North American local government building departments to help communities thrive.
Located at the heart of Northwestern BC, the City of Terrace supports about 12,300 residents and those in the surrounding communities who work, play, and do business here. The City has a close relationship with the Kitselas and Kitsumkalum First Nations and acknowledges that our community exists on unceded Tsimshian territories. Terrace is the largest community in the Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine, which includes Kitimat, Stewart, Hazelton, and New Hazelton.
