Colorado’s Grant for Streamlined Permitting

Written by Cloudpermit | Nov 30, 2023 2:33:46 PM

The state of Colorado’s Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) has an initiative, the Local Planning Capacity (LPC) Grant Program, that aims to encourage online permitting. The LPC grant program will receive funding from Proposition 123 which supports affordable housing initiatives. Governments across Colorado can submit interest letters until December 4, 2023.

According to DOLA: “The intent of the program is to increase the capacity of local government planning departments responsible for processing land use, permitting, and zoning applications for housing projects. The program supports local governments’ capacity to address affordable housing, especially by expediting development review, permitting, and zoning of affordable housing.”

Cloudpermit can help governments across Colorado speed up processing times for land use, permitting, and zoning applications for housing projects.

Our leading, cloud-based software streamlines the building permit application process since governments can:

Accept Applications Online: Applicants can submit permit applications online on any mobile device – anytime, anywhere. They do not need to visit the government office to drop off a paper application. This reduces administrative work for front counter staff.

Receive Complete Applications: Applicants must fill in all mandatory input fields before they can submit their applications. They can go back to their applications as many times as they need before they are ready to submit it. This reduces questions and ensures all applications are complete upon submission.

Perform Mobile Inspections: Inspectors can conduct inspections in the field on their phones and tablets. They can upload photos, input notes, and pass/fail an inspection while on-site. This cuts down on travel time back to the office to duplicate the same work.

Notify Stakeholders with Updates: Government staff can automatically notify stakeholders with permit and inspection status updates. Stakeholders can automatically receive an email when there is a new status update on their project. This improves transparency and reduces the number of phone calls/emails to the government office asking for updates.

Keep All Communication in One Place: All communication can be kept in the same place on Cloudpermit. Government staff, builders, contractors, applicants, and any other stakeholders can talk to each other with time-stamped direct and group messages. This optimizes transparency, efficiency, and ensures staff can access important information when another staff member is sick/on vacation/etc.

Issue Permits Online: Building departments can issue building permits online via Cloudpermit. All permit information is stored online for secure record-keeping and can be accessed from any mobile device. This allows permits to be issued significantly faster than with paper-based or on-premises systems.
